The UFC....Fighters fight...at least they used to.....

Stand by for a little bit of a rant....

Is the UFC doing it all wrong? Just maybe......Having watched the sport grow from its very first event until now, There are some glaring differences between those early days and now. Understandably, a lot of those changes were for the good. Lets face it, worldwide exposure and acceptance has been huge for the sport, however.......as of late, there seems to be more of an emphasis being put on a fighters' trash talking abilities, as opposed to truly having the set of skills needed to reach the top of the heap. That little Leprechaun dude comes to mind....ya know the one, he has become rather, um, notorious not so much because of his ring prowess, but because of his brash, arrogant persona. Seems to me, he would be better suited for the WWE. In this writers' humble opinion, allowing these antics to catapult his popularity is bad for the sport and worse for the UFC as a whole. Believe it or not, MMA still contains the term ' Martial Arts '. This term brings to mind honorable men and women who spend a lifetime learning to master themselves...little things like manners, respect for your opponent, humility, I could go on and on, but I know you get my drift. These athletes have been placed in the back of the queue, and why? Because they won't strut around like some notorious half pint Irishman, thumbing their noses and talking down to other fighters....sad, really. Its just not a good example to set. If you take a look at the press he gets, it's all crap. There are a TON of younger fans out there...who would you want YOUR kid to emulate? Thus endeth the sermon.....

One more thing.....Hey Mcnugget....either defend the belt or vacate it...the act is getting stale....

Later,
